About Us

A Practice Built on Presence

Swastha Yoga began with a simple belief — that healing is personal, and yoga therapy should meet each body exactly where it is.

Twelve years ago, this was one person, one mat, one question.

This is the story of how a practice
became a place to heal.

The Journey

A Decade, Told as It Happened

2012

First Practice

One person, one mat — a personal Hatha yoga practice with no plan to teach anyone else.

A practice that stayed personal for years before it became a studio.

2017–18

Competition & Recognition

The personal practice met the wider yoga community for the first time — the Global Yoga Praveena Award, among the first outside recognition of a decade of discipline.

2022

Founded Swastha Yoga

The practice became a place — Dr. Sumitra M Patil founded Swastha Yoga Therapy and Prenatal Center, opening its doors in Bengaluru and taking Gandharva on as a student under her direct teaching.

A one-person practice became a team.

Today

A Practice for Others

Dr. Sumitra has since stepped back, and Gandharva now leads Swastha Yoga. More than 1,000 students across five countries later, the question hasn't changed: what does this body need, right now.

Still one relationship at a time.

Teaching a room full of people didn't retire the personal practice.

The mat changes size. The discipline doesn't.

Still practicing the shapes no one is watching him practice.

“Teach the person, not the pose.”

Teaching

Every Room Starts From Zero

A children’s class doesn’t run on the same instructions as a therapy session, and neither runs on a script. Every room Gandharva teaches starts by watching, not instructing — a habit formed long before Swastha Yoga existed, and one that hasn’t changed since.

Teaching Lineage

“A teacher doesn’t hand you the practice — they walk beside you until it becomes your own.”

Gandharva’s own practice was shaped under the guidance of Dr. Sumitra M Patil, founder of Swastha Yoga, long before there was a studio to teach in.
